I’ve boiled down persistence to one factor… Willpower. Wouldn’t you agree? I believe that willpower is the deciding factor between success and failure or life and death. People can and have lived with all kinds of ailments, diseases, and heartbreaks but what keeps them alive truly? Beyond the medicines and therapy in one’s own mind you must possess the will to live to continue living, it is a choice. If you so choose to lose your willpower, death is your only other option.

When a man has had setback after setback on his road of dreams, what makes him wish to continue? Willpower… on a deeper level, the will to live. I understand that everyone has trials and tribulations but if you are faced with an obstacle and you let it overcome you, your willpower simply isn’t strong enough.

How strong are you?

I just needed to take a moment from my day to let you know that you should seek inspiration from anywhere, but be specific when you are creative. Anything can inspire. A smile from a baby with no teeth can make you feel warm inside and make you say “Hey, today must be a beautiful day because this child sure is enjoying it. I think I feel like painting this.” Now that may not happen exactly but you get the idea. I am a musician but I am most definitely inspired by architecture and fashion. It fascinates me. I allow it to fascinate me. Allow yourself to be amazed by the “little” joys in life even if it may seem silly. Some days I just allow myself to pretend as if I am experiencing certain things for the very first time. It definitely keeps things new and fresh for me.

Secondly is creativity. When it is time to take that inspiration that you derived from God knows where, get focused. Get alone if you need to. I simply cannot create beautiful things in certain environments. For example if I am at home in my living room with my family, I can’t write music. I need to be alone. If I am around other musicians who are also writing, I need them to be silent. Your surroundings and the people around you have energy which affects your energy. Your energy determines what you do and what you attract. So how are you feeling right now? Happy? Determined? Exhausted? That is exactly what you are bringing into your life then.

Draw inspiration from anywhere. Be creative somewhere.

This inspired me greatly today to make some major changes in my life, starting today! I hope it does the same for you.

Do Interesting Things

from Zen Habits by Leo

We live in interesting times. We’re blessed that way.

The world is changing rapidly.

The way we work is changing, the way we live has already changed. Entire industries are crumbling, and more are growing on their ruins. People are empowered to express themselves, to create, to become a part of a global conversation and transformation, in a way that has never existed before.

What will you do with that?

What will your place be in this new, interesting world? Will you have a voice? Will you be a creator, or just a consumer?

Do something.

Do something interesting.

Be a part of the conversation, and say something remarkable. Create something unique, new, beautiful. Build upon the works of others and transform it into your own.

How to do this?

Write a book. Or an ebook. Write poetry and publish it on the web. Create interesting, lovely or funny videos, put them on You Tube. Be passionate. Write a web app that will solve a problem in people’s lives. Become a watchdog to replace the faltering newspapers. Explore the world, and blog about it. Try something you’ve always been afraid to try, and put it on video. Be yourself, loudly. Start a new company, doing only one thing, but doing it very well. Start a business that does a service you’ve always wanted, or that you are frustrated with in other companies because the service sucks. Put your heart into something. Say something that no one else dares to say. Do something others are afraid to do… (cont’d here)
