Some recent items from the local hip-hop world:
- The 3rd annual Texas Summer Urban Music Conference is gearing up for an entertainment-filled weekend in Dallas, starting today and running through Sunday. It will include a music industry mixer designed for executives, industry professionals, artists and producers looking to expand their network. There will be panel discussions, performances, fashion showcases and more. The kickoff party is tonight at House of Blues and will feature local stars Dorrough, Tum Tum, B-Hamp and more. - Rising D-FW producer (and crafter of Kanye West’s single “Power”) Symbolyc One (S1) has launched his new official website: www.symbolycone.com. (Bonus: Check out a behind-the-scenes video clip of the upcoming “Power” music video.)
- In case you missed it, Mark Cuban, who has been a mainstay in the news with his Texas Rangers bid, also gets some attention this week for his appearance in rapper Dorrough‘s official “Get Big” music video (:45 sec mark).
- The Beat Factory Live Producer Showcase will be held on Saturday at Absinthe Lounge (1409 S. Lamar). The free beat-battle contest will feature some top local producers including Da Dreak, J. Rhodes, Billy Syn, Kitty Katana and more. More info here.
